The mother tiger becomes both the tree's head and its roots, while her three cubs play around her. She represents motherhood, strength, and the foundation we create for our children. The snake acts as a guardian, while the butterflies represent protection and watching over the family.

The lime tree connects the piece back to culture, our roots, and where we come from. I kept thinking about how everyone wants to pick a lime from a lime tree, but someone has to nurture that tree first. Someone has to water it, care for it, and give it what it needs to grow. To me, that's motherhood. What we nurture within ourselves today can become something our children get to enjoy and carry forward.

The river represents learning to flow with life rather than always fighting it. I wanted this painting to feel playful, colorful, and full of life because nurturing doesn't always have to come from pain. It can also look like joy, protection, connection, and creating a safe place for our children to grow.

For Para las Hijas Mayores, this piece asks one final question: after learning how to heal ourselves, what do we choose to grow?
