Story Behind the Work.
Growing up as a first-generation daughter means learning how to carry two worlds at once. You learn to translate papers, emotions, and dreams long before you even understand your own. When I created “First Generation,” I was thinking about the quiet weight we hold. The kind our parents never speak about, but the kind we feel in our bones.
The Monarca wings honor our ancestors who crossed borders with nothing but faith and fear in their pockets. The burning corazones represent that mix of pride, pain, pressure, and love we carry as the first in our families to walk new paths.
This piece is my love letter to the cycle breakers. The ones learning to rest. Learning to breathe. Learning to choose themselves. This is for every first-gen soul rewriting the story with tenderness and courage.
